Bulgarian Sketches was written in 2021 as a result of a chance meeting with a Bulgarian pianist. The work contains six pieces and uses traditional Bulgarian folk melodies as its inspiration, alongside newly composed tunes.
Performers who have enjoyed the intermediate-level pieces by Bartok (his Hungarian Dances, for example) will find these a useful and stimulating addition to the piano repertoire.
